The interdisciplinary research programme of this CRC will take our mathematical understanding
of pHS to the next level through new fundamental analytical insights as well as tailored, novel
techniques in numerics and optimization. To achieve this, the projects of the CRC contain a
balanced mix of ambitious research goals: on the one hand, goals for which the path to their
realization seems relatively clear; on the other hand, goals for which a larger risk of being
reached completely and successfully is outweighed by particularly high potential progress.
