Volker Mehrmann has been appointed “EMS Distinguished Lecturer 2026”

Volker Mehrmann (TU Berlin), mercator fellow of the CRC, has been appointed “EMS Distinguished Lecturer 2026” by the European Mathematical Society (EMS).

The nomination for EMS Distinguished Lecturer was jointly submitted by the EMS Topical Activity Groups "ANLAMA – Numerical Linear Algebra" and "Dissipative and Port-Hamiltonian systems, Modelling, Simulation, Control, and Optimization".

An EMS Distinguished Speaker is a prestigious appointment, awarded by the EMS to an internationally renowned researcher.

Volker will deliver a lecture as the EMS Distinguished Lecturer at the Foundations of Computational Mathematics conference on 8–12 July 2026 in Vienna.
